About Us

SKT Ceramics is housed in the Century Design Workshop building in Cincinnati’s Walnut Hills. The building was constructed as the Century Theater in 1910, designed for moving pictures and vaudeville.

The building contains the SKT studio, the Century Design Workshop wood shop, a retail space and a gallery. The wood shop makes custom cabinetry and furniture and is responsible for the historic renovation of the studio space.

OUR FOUNDER

Susannah Tisue

SKT owner and illustrator Susannah Tisue spent her childhood in Cincinnati making art, first at Montessori Open House (steps away from the SKT Walnut Hills studio) then at Walnut Hills High School. She grew up in downtown Cincinnati, where her love of urban living led her to New York University for college. At NYU, she made work that incorporated painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture. Her work in sculpture led her to ceramics and a post graduate residency at Greenwich House Pottery in Manhattan's West Village where she fell in love with porcelain and celadon glaze and merged her artistic interests into what is SKT Ceramics today.

Susannah and her husband, woodworker Michael Miritello moved their businesses from New York to Cincinnati in 2016, where they renovated the historic Century Theater in Walnut Hills into their ceramic studio, woodshop, retail space and gallery. They opened an outpost in Cincinnati's historic Findlay Market in 2017, which has helped them connect with other local businesses and the thousands of visitors and locals who love the market.

Susannah lives in Cincinnati with her husband Michael, two sons (Theo and Henry) and their shop dog Sebastian.
